Siena

Siena

Description

Siena is characterised by its architecture in "cotto", the tiles typical of the area, and the splendid Piazza del Campo

In Piazza del Campo, "Palio di Siena" takes place on the 2nd July and the 16th August every year. The equestrian competition between the neighbourhoods of the city dates back to 1644.
These are not the best days to visit the city, but the atmosphere then is electrifying.
Among the many things to see are the Duomo and, immediately opposite, the museum complex of Santa Maria della Scala.

By car:
40 minutes drive.
From Bucine it is easy to get to Siena, which is only 45 km away.
Here too you will have to leave the car in a pay car park, outside the city walls.
